Foxes Forest
Deep within a mystical forest, moonlight filters through the towering trees, casting an eerie glow upon the mist-covered ground, hiding endless secrets waiting to be discovered.

The Concept
"Foxes Forest" is based on a concept by reza abbbasi on Artstation
Breakdown
I sculpted both the character and the fox in Z-Brush. I used polygroups and zremesher in order to get the topology that I needed before bringing the model into maya to rig/pose.

I also sculpted out the trees and branches in order to get the exact shape and style that I needed. I then textured the models in Substance Painter

The leaves and foliage geometry are from speed tree and mega scans.
I used a tube groom workflow in X-Gen to create the groom system. I chose to do this over manually placing guides as it was a more stylized hairstyle/concept.

I started by drawing out the curves, and then used curve wrap to create the geometry. Once I had each individual section created, I converted them into guides in X-Gen

After general adjustments, I added modifiers such as clumping and cut, and used rand expressions to further enhance the look of the groom.

Using multiple render passes and light selects I was able to enhance my composition using Nuke.
I brought in various atmospheric effects to further add to the scene, including fog and foreground flowers.
